WHAT WINGS MEANS TO ME

Two years ago, a friend and fellow church member invited me to a special ministry here at Florida Hospital Church. This ministry is, “WINGS.” Let me tell you about “WINGS!”

I feel WINGS is the inspiration of God through the hearts of two special women, Karen and Sandy. Karen and Sandy desire to bring God’s love and healing touch to hurting women. We meet once a week to share, care, and worship the Lord.

Worshipping the Lord through prayer and seeking Him is what makes this ministry so unique compared to other organizations providing help to women in need. This ministry acknowledges Him—who is above all else and is able to supply all our needs.

In the past two years, I have seen a variety of women in pain come to this ministry. This ministry gives each woman a voice, an opportunity to express their pain, to have their pain acknowledged and to hear that others care. For some women, this is their only chance to be heard. The other special unique quality to this ministry is the fact that it is free. Many women cannot afford counseling, even if their insurance helps with the cost.

Through WINGS, women who have suffered physical, verbal, emotional, and sexual abuse at some point in their life can find others who understand their pain. Karen and Sandy provide spiritual, educational and special resources to handle a variety of different situations. Most important, women who are in pain can find love and acceptance in church with a ministry that specifically acknowledges their situations.

So, fellow church members please keep this ministry in your prayers and ask God for His healing to all the women who come through this ministry.

Words can't express how I feel about being a part of WINGS.  Two years ago, I was as an abused mother of a small child. I was afraid as I came to my first WINGS meeting.  But, as I proceeded to the room, I started to feel a sense of peace and the good thing about it too, I was able to bring my son.

In the beginning, meeting with the others ladies, I was afraid to open up.  I was thinking-- they will not understand what I am going through.  But as I continued to come to the meetings, I realized they had been through difficult times, and they were still going through things. Together we help each other, even if it’s just listening.  I believe that is a good part about WINGS.

I love the materials that we read and study. It gives me important information that I need. I wish I had had the information in the beginning of my relationship.  At least now, I know what to look for or what to expect in a new relationship.   The most important thing I do know is, "God Loves You” and "He Forgives Us for All of Our Sins".  I also love that WINGS has knowledgeable leaders--for not only leading us but also helping us.  If they cannot find the solution, they will give you resources that will help.  And that's a blessing.

It's wonderful being a part of WINGS, sharing in the Body of Christ.  Looking at how God continues to bless us all.  Thank you, Pastor Andy and the church for having WINGS. It means so much to me and for the women to come.
